Drinkable warm sunshine, playful breezes, tiny unique shops all in a row. A little 1940’s house surrounded by citrus trees and windows with white trim. Brownies waiting on the porch on move-in day, gifts of tangy lemons and sweet, juicy oranges from neighboring trees. The sound of taps at sunset; glittering seas in every direction. This is the little world I’ve been lost in for the last month or so, our new chapter for the next three years: life on Coronado island.
Hi friends! So sorry for the unplanned mini hiatus going on here these days. If you read this post you know we have some big changes coming up and I have been 100% consumed with preparing for that. Hang tight! This transition will be over soon and I’ll be back to updating regularly and commenting back on your sweet new blog posts as well.
As a quick way to fill you all in, here is a little of what we are currently up to…
My first son Kai has always been absolutely obsessed with the ocean and all its creatures. That’s why for his first birthday when LTJG Husband was deployed, I took him to Birch Aquarium in La Jolla instead of throwing a party and even at 12 months old, he loved every minute of it. Last weekend, we got a chance to go back, and since this time around we had ‘Daddy’ with us, Kai loved it even more.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out Birch Aquarium yet, here’s a few reasons why you should!
First of all, my apologies. It is shameful how little I have updated recently and I have no excuses except that two babies is madness + Jake is gone so, so much + I am trapped in a “what is sleep?” daze (apparently my new normal), all of which have worn down my ability to creatively express anything at all. Anyway, as we run full speed ahead into September here in Carlsbad, I am/we are currently…
After a week at sea, LTJG Husband got three days off so we snuck away on Friday night for a slightly adventurous and definitely nostalgic San Clemente date at the Calafia beach campgrounds.
With LTJG Hubs underway last week and heading out again soon, we wanted to squeeze a date night in this week and were dying to do something different. I found The Orchid Bar online and their summer tapas nights on Wednesdays sounded like the perfect way to mix things up, so we decided to check it out.
