My first son Kai has always been absolutely obsessed with the ocean and all its creatures. That’s why for his first birthday when LTJG Husband was deployed, I took him to Birch Aquarium in La Jolla instead of throwing a party and even at 12 months old, he loved every minute of it. Last weekend, we got a chance to go back, and since this time around we had ‘Daddy’ with us, Kai loved it even more.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out Birch Aquarium yet, here’s a few reasons why you should!
Hey, hey! It’s Thursday again, and this week on TBT, Travel Edition I’m throwing it back to…Palermo, Italy! Why Palermo? Well, for one thing, Palermo is knock-you-down-and-steal-your-heart-in-a-minute gorgeous.
Back in May, in a moment of frustrated, unfulfilled wanderlust, I compiled my travel snapshots into a galleries to share with you fellow wanderers. However, that’s all they were: collections of photos without so much as a caption between them. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but slapping those photos up without sharing at least a bit of their story just does not do them justice, or help my traveling readers in the least.
That’s why I’m launching a new series here on the blog: TBT, Travel Edition. On the occasional Thursday I’ll be sharing the shots from one travel locale, along with any stories and travel tips I picked up along the way. Kicking it off today is: Naples + Capri!
When I was 18, I went on the trip of a lifetime to the Mediterranean coasts of Spain, Italy, and France. While the French ports were quaint and beautiful, and Barcelona open and inviting, it was Italy, Italy, ITALY that had me from the very beginning.
This post is my list of personal “port favorites” for any military wife who finds herself living in or visiting Newport. While there are many “must-see, must-do, must-eat” lists for a place like Newport, these are the places and experiences Jake and I remember and recommend the most from our time spent there (July 2012-May 2013).
