Well, we are four weeks deep into September, but here in Southern California our temperatures are currently hitting the triple digits. It definitely hasn’t been feeling like fall around here, but luckily we can always create fall inside (even if the mean ol’ weather refuses to play along).
Here’s a few fall items I have all the heart eyes for this season…
Four years ago when I first began writing a blog called “Hurry Up and Wait” chronicling our Navy adventures together, I would never have imagined what it would grow to become. Since that first post about LTJG Husband swearing in, this blog has grown and changed and taken on a life of its own.
A blind orphan girl aids the French resistance during WWII, a brilliant man finds his memory refreshes every eighty minutes, and a fearless female horse trainer and pilot is forced to forge a new life for herself under the Kenyan sun. These are just a few of the adventures waiting for you in Circling the Sun, The Housekeeper and the Professor, and All the Light We Cannot See.
Still not convinced? Here’s why these three books made my book recommendation list this month…

Happy almost Valentine’s day! Can we have a moment of honesty here? I used to think Valentine’s day was an overrated marketing holiday for people who didn’t know how to celebrate their love every ordinary day of the year. I think a lot of us feel that way and its not entirely unjustified.
So what changed for me? I married a military man! And he is gone a whole lot of the time. Now, I’ll take any excuse that encourages me to take a moment and think about what we have. To slow down and recognize that especially with all the hard times our marriage has been through since he joined the military, our love is worth celebrating. And so is yours!
Hi friends! So sorry for the unplanned mini hiatus going on here these days. If you read this post you know we have some big changes coming up and I have been 100% consumed with preparing for that. Hang tight! This transition will be over soon and I’ll be back to updating regularly and commenting back on your sweet new blog posts as well.
As a quick way to fill you all in, here is a little of what we are currently up to…
Happy New Year! Last week my body decided to completely rebel against all the holiday sweets and tried its hardest to knock me off my feet. I was fighting a mean winter bug and needed some serious nourishment.
