This month was a doozy, to say to the least. With LTJG Husband at sea and the boys deciding to drive me insane with their simultaneous nap strikes, I spent most of the month just wishing it was over already. However, as always, there were still some silver linings to the month: a dear friend’s wedding, a few new discoveries to add to my beauty routine, and some welcome surprises here in California, among other things. Check out some of my ‘favorite things’ this June…
1. Milani Rose d’Oro Baked Blush
Milani Baked Blush in Rose d’Oro
Heads up, NARS Orgasm Blush fans; the Milani Baked Blush in Rose d’Oro that I discovered this month is a pretty decent replacement blush if paying $30 for NARS blush makes you a little queasy. Someone once gifted me NARS Orgasm and it really is the most flattering summer color, but this Milani blush is just as pretty. It has the same gold highlighting, similar staying power and an only slighter darker hue to it, while still staying on the pinky-peach side of the spectrum. Best part? It’s less than $8.
2. June Gloom Rain
California finally got some rain this month! It might not have been as much as this thirsty state needs, but the sight was so unfamiliar and fascinating to my little guy that he was practically hypnotized by it.
3. Micellar Water
I’ve become super lazy about my bedtime routine since having the boys. Recently, I’d gotten into the bad habit of just wiping my face down with a baby wipe before bed and it was wrecking havoc on my skin. So, when I read about Micellar water– an old French beauty secret- I had to try it. After trying it for a week I’m completely in love with it, and my skin hasn’t looked this good since I first got pregnant. One swipe of a cotton round soaked with this stuff takes off every bit of makeup and leaves my skin so soft and dewy that I don’t even need moisturizer afterwards (just a little eye cream). It also has such an elegant, fresh smell to it that I actually look forward to washing my face every night now.

This month, I was so blessed to get to see one of my oldest and dearest friends get married and it was well worth the drive to Arizona to be there. You can read all about our road trip/wedding adventures here.
5. Cold Brew Coffee
Cold Brew Coffee from Choice Juice in Carlsbad
With Jake gone this month, I’ve felt like I’m running on empty every day. Kai always acts out when Jake is gone and the baby decided 5:45 was good wake-up time recently, so extra caffeine has been a must just to survive the day. I never really knew what the big deal was with cold brew coffee except that its less acidic, but with the weather so hot I’ve been loving the cold brew from Choice Juice that comes sprouted vanilla almond milk already in it; so delicious!
6. Father’s Day

I thought Father’s day was going to be a really tough day with LTJG Husband being gone again this year, but my Dad decided to drive out from Arizona at the last minute and the boys absolutely loved getting to spend the weekend with him. We still missed Jake, but it was great for Kai to have a man around again to rough-house with.
Mostly though, my favorite part of June is that it’s over, because that means my man will be home very soon :)
