Four years ago when I first began writing a blog called “Hurry Up and Wait” chronicling our Navy adventures together, I would never have imagined what it would grow to become. Since that first post about LTJG Husband swearing in, this blog has grown and changed and taken on a life of its own.
Writing here over the years not only introduced to me to incredible military wives all over the world; but it also gave me a space to share the heaviness of deployments, the joy of reunions, and everything in between that comes with this adventure; and it challenged me to cultivate skills and creativity that I didn’t even know I had in me. I have felt truly blessed by the unexpected and truly thoughtful words I have received in response to the simple act of sharing my heart here.
That being said, I have decided to go on a much needed hiatus until Fall 2016 for a couple reasons:
The last few years have taught me how vital, how precious every minute of family time is when you are a military family.
Being a mom can be isolating, and in the past I found a small refuge writing here. Now, watching my boys grow like wild, lovable weeds before my eyes, I find myself not wanting to miss a single second of it, even for a project like this. I want them to have every bit of me that they need right now, because they are the most important work.
2 – Other Projects
There are a few specific projects that have been tugging on my soul recently, but there just isn’t room in my life for them as things are. I love writing here, but it has taken time (SO. MUCH. TIME.) that I want to channel toward these creative longings in the very few spare moments I have instead.
If you would like to continue following day to day updates of our adventures, please feel free to follow me on Instagram (image below is linked to my profile).
Thank you for following along, it has meant the world to me. See you again in the fall!
